Grandma dropped off some plain vanilla cake mix a while back and I haven’t been able to get around to it until today because I have been working my tush off at play practice. But I decided since today was my friend’s birthday and tomorrow our last dress rehearsal (amen), I should bake some delicious cupcakes! With what special ingredient, though?
Why not a dash of rainbow, a la Pinkie Pie? Don’t worry, I only murdered twelve people to make these batches. Though in all seriousness, getting your cupcakes to be rainbow and gorgeous takes this simple process!
- Prepare your batter.
- Get lots of dye.
- Separate the batter into smaller bowls.
- Dye each division of cake batter a different color of your choosing. (I used blue, green, yellow, red, and purple, and then kept some white, but for Rainbow Dash-a-rific ones, keep your emphasis on the blues)
- When preparing the cupcakes for the oven, layer on amounts of each color into your muffin tray.
Additionally, these cupcakes are relatively fat free. By only using the whites of the eggs (though this does make them a little flat) and replacing oil/butter with applesauce, you can make sure that when you eat other ponies in pastry format, you’re not damaging your figure! Hooray!
Check out these Pinkie Pie cupcakes if you haven’t already seen them.
